Power steering went out on my 2018 Silverado, truck has 82k miles and has never had a level or anything, truck made a bunch of crunchin and grinding noise before it completely stopped working
I was wondering if anyone has changed the steering rack out themselves, it looks like it all comes together and how big of a job it is today without a lift.

Yeah, it is an electric assist (you must have figured that out when there was no place to poor in some PS fluid), changing out would be a little harder without a lift, but doable.  The issue is the steering angle sensor will have to be reset, which unless you have a $2,000 scanner, you'll still have to have a dealer (or a competent shop) do that.

I actually knew truck was electric power steering but when the noise started I thought it was a ball joint and it just kept getting worse really quick and completely went out last night,  I think I’m gonna try to do it myself and I’ll take it to dealer to have module programmed.
