Been watching some videos on the 1500 AT4 and I’m surprised at how low the actual payload rating has been.  Most trucks have been around 1400 lbs. granted these are fully loaded with the 3.0, but the GMC website says payload should start at 2200 or so.

anybody know why there is such a discrepancy?

thanks.

The maximum payload on a truck comes from a regular cab 2 wheel drive. By the time you get to an AT4, with 4 wheel drive, bigger engine and crew cab, you have added a lot of weight which takes away from carrying capacity.

Not an AT4 but my 2018 crew cab 6.6’ 4wd SLT (sunroof, bucket seats) 6.2L Max tow payload is 1900lbs.

Love the looks of the AT4 but with softer springs for better off-road ride payload is reduced.

You could always add sumo springs, add a leaf or air bags if it squats too much when loaded or towing.

In 2020, AT4 was available in crewcab shortbox or doublecab standard box

In 2021 AT4 only available as crewcab short or standard  (no doublecab)
