2018 Sierra 6.2L - Camshaft failure at 55000 km. Cylinder 8 lobe scored. Started ticking like a sewing machine. Dealer replaced all lifters and cam under warranty. Also got tranny fluid changed to the new stuff. They don’t know why it failed, claimed it was poor oil quality or loss of oil pressure. I’ve only ran AC Delco oil and filter. Mods I have are cat back exhaust and lowering kit. After warranty expires I will delete AFM with an aftermarket cam and lifters.

It happens. The part that is in thousands of engines and you may just get a bad one ever once in a while, the metal is weak and lifter eats it away.
