Got the old water pump off and cleaned up the block for a better mating surface.

New water pump is installed. But since I don’t own a torque wrench, I snugged it down until I can rent one tomorrow.

Your german spec will be more than good enough, I've never once torqued those bolts down.

Took on a little project, started working on the rockers that are rusted up. Here’s a picture of what I’m starting with.

Started with sanding down the metal and looking at how bad it is. Usually whatever you see on the outside, it’s worse underneath

I taped off where I wanted to cut out since I want to treat inside the panel. And out comes my diamond blade saw.

Super scary but I’m sure I can make it better. Below is the cut out and a look of what’s inside the panel

I started sanding the burrs off and sanding as much rust on the inside. I wrapped sandpaper around a drill bit and went to work. After much progress I started taping it off the paint the rust reformer and get it taken care of.

I recessed the tape about an 1/8 of an inch away from the edge. So the exposed metal will be coated, then applied the reformer as much as I can to every nook and cranny. Below is a picture of it painted

You can see it did a good job coating everything.

Here’s where I’m stopping for now. Since water gets in here no matter what, this can’t hurt it too much more. As long as I stay out of the rain till I finish the repair.
