jsward12 Posted April 19, 2021 Posted April 19, 2021 Hey gang, on the 6.6 gasser does anyone hear a slight chirp when you put the truck into gear? Doesnt matter if engine is cold or warm. It is noticeable around 1100 -1500 RPM's. Reminds me a little bit of 6.4 Hemi chirp.
Sierra Jon Posted April 27, 2021 Posted April 27, 2021 Have not noticed anything like that so far bud, sorry.
crash heap Posted June 10, 2021 Posted June 10, 2021 Mine makes a chirp at start up and when it goes into gear. It does it til I am almost to second gear. It’s done it since mile 1 so I chalked it up to nothing to worry about

My 2021 6.6 liter 2500 HD Silverado custom is currently in the dealer shop for this. I do not believe it is anything serious. My experience is backyard mechanic at best. But what I think is happening could most likely be one of 2 things. A tensioner pulley malfunction or a pulley misalignment. Tensioner pulley is quite an easy fix to do at home. Pulley misalignment does require some special tools. There are two pulleys installed on this engine from the manufacturer by mode of machine. Sometimes they press pulleys in to far or not far enough causing the belt to rub inside edge of one of the pulley's, causing the chirp you are hearing. If it’s under manufactured warranty still, and don’t mind not having your vehicle for a bit. Take it to dealer to have them troubleshoot.
GMC4Zee Posted October 19, 2021 Posted October 19, 2021 Mine chirps on initial start up in the morning but once the engine is warmed up you don't hear it. Sounds like belt chirp to me. Will have dealer check it when in for 5k oil change.
