I'm looking at taking my All Terrains off and installing All Weathers.  I'm going to keep my ATs and put them on a second set of wheels, for when I do go off-roading.

Looking for suggestions.

It has been my experience that the Michelin Defenders are a great tire.  Quiet, long lasting and great all weather performance.  I had the older version on my 2002 the LTX MS2's and got 75k miles out of them.  The set of Defenders on our 2016 Suburban are wearing great and quiet after 30k miles on them so far.

I have GY Wrangler DuraTrac's with 33K, almost 34K, they're the original tires from when I purchased the truck.  I feel like I can feel the treads at slow speeds, like you can with "knobies."  But, yeah, these have lasted almost 3 years and 33K+.  About 100 miles is NOT pavement.

Sumitomo encounter ht (spelling)

Just looked for the cheapest one with the best reviews. Apparently it’s a rebranded falken.

Love it. All season tire that Slightly more aggressive than most all season tires. On my truck they just look like normal all season tires. When I bought a set for my wifes acura suv, looks like she’s ready for an expedition into the woods.

lasts forever, great traction in wet and snow, slightly more road noise than most passenger car all seasons, but that’s the only downside (i couldnt tell until I drove my wifes car)

Very cheap. Have had them on for a couple years still look brand new. Will be buying them for a long time to come.

How? You paid less for  lesser quality Japanese rubber. Did you ever own Michelin LTX M/S's?

Nope, and you have never owned mine.

I have had Michelin defenders, several years ago, not the m/s specifically. But like most people I’ve owned a wide range of tires from other high quality brands. A good truck tire just works in a wide array of conditions, and it works for a long time.

normally you get what you pay for, but not with the sumitomos. I’d be happy with their performance if they costed as much as the defenders.

best of all, you don’t need to take my word for it, read the reviews

The prices on the same sizes are about $20 more for the Michelins per tire. So that's about $80- $100 more for American rubber vs cheap Japanese rubber. The cheap Japanese rubber should be at least $50 per tire cheaper. So, the better value is Michelin.

And no, I never owned cheap Japanese rubber. Never will. I don't care what the questionable reviews say.

Oh if thats all it is yeah i’d probably go Michelin too. It was about $50-100/cheaper a tire when I bought mine.

Rofl at cheap japanese rubber. You know someone is incredibly ignorant when they make a statement like that. As if you have any comprehension of a the supply chain for these massive companies and where they source their rubber. As if you have any comprehension of where the money is actually going. For all you know a few cattle farmers in texas are the majority share holders of sumitomo and michele is owned by a japanese guy.

this is on top of the hilarious fact that sumitomo has a factory in new york

and this is despite the fact, that most of the things japan produces is higher quality than the us produces. It’s part of their culture there. It’s why their cars are more reliable.

but hey, keep thinking you know what you’re doing by using your hard earned money (judging by the ignorance, I think we can safely assume poorly educated and it was definitely hard earned) and don’t spend it on whats best for you, spend it on the brand name that doesn’t sound like some squinty eyed people made it.

Michelin Defender LTX can't be beat for value/quality.  I would never purchase a Sumitomo for any vehicle I was intending on using and keeping...had them before and they are junk...cheap, but junk.

Ah, well fortunately there are hundreds of reviews from people that used those actual tires and we don’t have to listen to people who base all products a large company produces off of one bad experience at some point in time.

Craftsman tools must be great too, because I had a great experience with my ratchet set from 1980.

    • I Wouldn't Know Where to Begin    Oh I know where I would begin but I'm just one of over eight billion people on this rock. Eight billion versions of where the goal post is. How large it should be. How far to kick from. What ball is the right ball. Elevation. Age.....are you getting the point? It isn't about disagreeing with one individual. It's about agreeing only with one individual. One's self.   Agreement comes when multiple people hold the same point already. THAT is the goal of an education. Building the Social Contract. That thing that allows us to all read this sentence. We've agreed on the alphabet and how to arrange those letters into words we agree upon whose meanings hold true for everyone entering into that contract. Those words arranged into a sentence form an idea and several sentences strung together in a paragraph convey an argument for or against or inform the reader of a state, condition or perhaps reveal a things nature. Paint a word picture. Make oneself known.    This contract is not limited to words although they are often explained by words. Things like numbers and their usefulness. Physics, Chemistry, Medicine, Music, Art and so on.    The frequency of middle C (C4) is 261.63 Hz. We build on that to make music we all can enjoy even if we all can not compose or play. You don't have to master it to make it enjoyable and useful.    So why is the Beginning so difficult? Why is agreement so elusive?   Everyone "Signs" the contract (when receiving that education in obtaining it)  but fewer and fewer in this world have any intention of living by that contract. They find exploiting that contract more advantageous. Disruption. With intent. Without intent. In Ignorance. In your face. With a double dog dare you. With a hold my beer. In resistance to that contract and in spite how it looks on us. It permeates the very air we breath.    In this way the contract is subject o advantage. Abide by it when it serves you, disregard it when it doesn't. Unpredictable and self-serving. Corrosive.....Toxic........   It says a lot about a persons character to disregard the contract, the truth, first principles. None of it good.        ********************************************************   https://medicine.yale.edu/news-article/character-vs-personality-who-we-are-and-who-we-aspire-to-be/   Just an interesting article.
    • It costs $5,250 for the Yukon Nightfall option (black wheels, emblems and illuminated black GMC grill badge). What a "deal".
    • I keep getting the above error message on my 25 Sierra.  If I reset the infotainment unit (via the phone hang up button) it will work again for a day or 2.   But I dont want to do have to reset  all the time. Works fine in my 2023 Corvette. On both vehicles I connect wirelessly.   I have a Google Pixel 10 Pro XL, phone is up to date.  Any Ideas.  See attached
    • LOL, its thrown a few people because this item is being talked about in the gas part of the HD forum. Probably wouldn't be a bad idea to put a very brief wording in your profile with the year/GM or Chev/2500 or 3500/ and yes the 6.6 Duramax. When I joined this forum I could see the confusion ensuing for my own truck unless I had it listed with my chosen name handle unless one has a few vehicles that apply to a GM forum as that becomes confusing as well. Anyway its all good, makes for a little forum excitement 😉
    • Gasgacinch, James Gaskets. Good stuff. High tac to help hold the gasket in place while assembling parts. Fills minor surface imperfections. Slightly elastic. Gasoline / coolant / oil proof. Very handy stuff. Nothing like RTV.
