infotainment 3 and plus

for the life of me i can't figure out why one can't replace the basic infotainment 3 system with a little more stuff "PLUS" ... isn't that system contained within a box and when taken out and anther plugged in wouldn't you think it would work with the new features?

programming and module i believe is the issue....I had IOR and went to IOS? ( premium no nav) and now back to IOR, I do miss some of features but its fine
