Hello all. I’m new to the forum thing infact I accidentally posted this same question in the Yukon forum😂 but I didn’t know where else to check.

I recently picked up my new Silverado 2500 custom and it has the DGB mirrors however due to the extremely ugly black rectangle in the side of it is like to upgrade them to the DWI mirrors. My local dealerships are telling me it can’t be done but I have a very hard time believing that. Shouldn’t it just be new mirrors and harnesses for the doors and a bcm reflash? What am I missing here?? Any help or ideas of how to get the dwi mirrors work will be much appreciated

I'd say there might not be an upgrade path yet. 4 years ago on my previous 2014 Silverado I upgraded from DL3 mirrors to DQS power folding towing mirrors. The DQS mirrors weren't even an option in 2014. Now it required a pretty serious investment in time having to rewire the truck, but overall it was doable. I was able to work with pgamboa who provided valuable information, instructions, and a pre-built wiring kit I was able to use to complete the work. You can see his forum page to get an idea and see that it might be possible on these newer trucks.

Thank you, I’ll certainly take a look. I’m positive it is doable considering that it was offered from the factory. There’s just a lack of information at this time because people haven’t done it yet, and I certainly don’t want the headache of being the first one 😂

I have the big ole tow mirrors on my 21 2500.  My issue with them is this.  They are nice mirrors,  but one for they stick out to far and the passenger side one can create a blind spot when looking that way at times.

My issue is they will will power fold in,  but wont do it automatically when turning the car off.

In your settings you can turn on auto fold that will fold in the mirrors when you press and(hold) the lock button for a few seconds. They will also unfold when you press and hold the unlock button.

think I will be looking for that again,  as I didnt see it at first when I looked,  you know where?  That would be an improvement.  Be better if the setting was for car on and off.

Settings >vehicle >comfort and convenience.

ahh  I had that set and nothing happened.  guess I will try holding it down

Well, did it work after you tried holding the remote button down?  I may have to change that setting on mine too.  Will they auto deploy when the truck it unlocked or started?  Or do you have to press and hold the remote or press the button on the door to make them fold back out?

I have a 2021 Chevy 2500. I have the tow mirrors but not rear spot lights. What can I do to upgrade my tow mirrors to the ones with the rear facing spotlights? And what all do I need?

There's no route to adding the spotter light still. The mirrors are broken up into pieces on parts sites but only sold complete. I did find the lights though and they have two blade connectors on the back. I had planned to add them and hot wire them to one of my Aux switches but that is a far down the road project. I would need a mirror panel without the blank. That should be like a $30 piece. Not about to drop $700+ on a whole mirror and start playing around.

If there was enough interest one of the custom wiring harness people would probably cook something up like they've done with the K2XX trucks.

    • Hi all - my current truck is a 2022.5 1500 High Country 3.0. I bought the truck used last year. After doing some digging, I noticed that my truck's software is stuck on the original build from 2022. I have no available software updates. I talked to my dealer about this and they recommended not trying to force an update since the 36,000 mile warranty is expired. This is a big bummer since there have been many major releases since that have fixed small issues and improved speed/usability.   For reference, the current software build number is: full_gminfo37_gb-user 10 W158E-W164.4.2-QIH22B-563.3 158 release-keys Has anyone had a similar experience? Should I just forget about it and move on, or try a different dealer?
    • Sure. Buy it for me 🤣
    • Using zip ties but 2-3 they snap due to sharp edges. Just using a shoestring. Last longer. 🤣
    • I ordered the Snap On...waiting for it to come in later this week or early next week.   New front cover, new crank seal and new balancer are on. Water pump, pulley, fan, hoses, and plastics reinstalled. I can move forward knowing all my timing marks are dead on and the front engine is hopefully sealed better than it was. Take 2 with the water pump...trying high temp thread sealer on the lower bolts.   Rebuilt injector and new-new regulator is in, it looks like new. Top intake reassembled and all the bits are reconnected and snugged down.   Thinking about knock sensors again, I located both of mine and, there's your problem, Francis... The driver's side one is broke, plastic is bashed in, part of the wire is bare, and it appears to have been damaged like that for a long time. I saw the wire but didn't think anything of it. The knock sensor might not be my pulled timing issue, but it sure looks suspect. It must still be conducting, otherwise I'd expect a CEL. But perhaps with its sacred crystal inside exposed, jilted and dirty, maybe it's sending mixed signals. So I'm waiting for one of those and a new pigtail to come in. Pass side sensor looks good, except for the spark plug wire resting on it (!). The plug wires are healthy so it shouldn't be causing an issue, but I separated them and added zip ties to nearby looms to keep everything well apart.   So, I'm down to installing a knock sensor AND, oh, replacing the exhaust and cat. I actually think that's going to be fairly easy, it's all bolt-together, all new stuff from Walker is laid out on the shop floor ready to go. Hopefully have this thing on the road again for the weekend.   My luck? It will still be leaking oil, coolant, pulled timing, intermittent CEL for running rich, or it probably won't run at all -- because that's how this project has gone.   I've never worked on a vehicle so ...hurt? ...cursed? in my life. Everything has been effed with SO HARD, but I think...knock on wood...I've managed to undo all the backyard stuff and we're almost reset back to "just" an 80k mile, 30 year old Blazer.
