"Cellular Phone Wiring Provision"???

Recommended Posts

Ok, my truck (2000 Silverado 1500) came with the "Cell Phone Wiring Provision" option....

I've figured out that's what the black box undeaneath my driver's side dash is, but I didn't get a diagram of what all the connections were for it....

Does anyone know where I can find some "instructions" on how to utilize my "cell phone wiring provisions with the booster kit/hands free I just got?

Thanks

Try giving Crutchfield a call. 1-888-655-6000 They might have a kit that wires your cell phone into that. Worth a shot.

I think the "cell phone prep" was only offered as an RPO for the 2000 trucks and SUV's.

According to my Helm Volume 4, the "cell phone prep" was also meant to allow a dealer to install OnStar. The Helm pages that cover this range from 8-591 to 8-646.

If I read the instructions correctly, on page 8-645 the Helm tells you the wires are stubbed between the driver and pass seats. If you have a console (LE/SLE or LT/SLT trim level) the wires are stubbed under the cupholder.

It reads like the microphone is on the left of the overhead console by the left map light, though the microphone is shipped not plugged in (?). There is mention of plugging the microphone in at the overhead console, and that the microphone leads are located at the inboard corner of the drivers visor underneath the headliner. Wish I had the truck in front of me to verify THAT!

The wire stubs are as follows:

Circuit #243: Yellow wire, ACC power feed

Circuit #2240: Orange wire, BATT feed

Circuit #1850, Black wire, Ground

Circuit #654, Bare wire, microphone ground/shield

Circuit #655, Gray wire, microphone

I'm not sure where the RG-58 coax for the cellular antenna is routed. Will keep looking in the Helm.
