Driver Information Center dim in daytime

I have a 2006 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT crew cab. During daytime driving the dic is barley readable. At night or in low light it is as legible as the other digital panels on the radio and HVAC. At night the dimmer switch will dim the dic along with the radio and HVAC. Is this an issue with the cluster or is it caused by something else?

Could be any or all of the above, check the ambient light sensor also.

The sensor works like

it should and everything dims with the dimmer when the lights are turned on. It’s just very dim in daylight. It doesn’t hurt anything but it’s very annoying to me
