Well, I don’t think anyone would disagree that the V1 is the best performing of that bunch. But to be fair it’s more expensive and harder to get at this point (usually backordered for weeks). It also doesn’t have built-in GPS so you will want to link it to your phone via an app like V1 Driver so you get the most from it. It’s not hard to do, the app connects once via BT, and then runs automatically in the background every time you turn the detector on. But still, some don’t like the idea of needing your phone for the best experience.

The R3 and Escort are solid performers and do have GPS, but don’t have the arrows telling you where you’re getting hit from like the V1 and other higher end detectors.

Based on features and price the Cobra DualPro 360 is probably the best overall value. It is basically a rebadged Escort Max 360 with slight changes and a much lower price. It does pretty well in testing by people far dorkier than me. Plus it has both GPS and the directional arrows which are pretty helpful. It’s not a long range legend like the V1, but still more than good enough for most situations. And a good starter detector I think.

Made up my mind on Dash Cam after extensive research.  Going with the VanTop H612T.  Going to hard wire it in with fuse taps.  Ordered today.
Still no absolute decision on radar detector. ???

There's a few things I've learned over the years to avoid tickets.  Use your brain, and have good vision.  Oh, and a concealed firearms permit (even in anti-2a states), a CDL, and a whole lot of respect towards the officer go a long way in avoiding tickets.  I don't go any faster than 8 over the posted limit.

I'll agree with using your brain, that's why the last sentence is key. In my state, none of the preceding items help to avoid a ticket and having a CDL, as I do also, holds you to a much higher tier of responsibility. In short, we know better and doesn't much serve as a positive. Friends unfortunately have had to deal with the penalty when caught, depending on the speed, can be rather severe and $$$.

I had a Uniden R3 that served me well, but recently moved to the R7 with the change in detection technology and tactics. The V1 is a very good detector, as well as the Escort, but preferred the Uniden.

I've been debating on a dash cam or not, but with all that goes on around your vehicle, I'll probably get one sooner or later.  Interested in your reviews after you receive.
