Dealer Buyback Z71 Tahoe

My Z71 Tahoe starting making terrible clunking noises at 14,000 miles. Take it in and of course it's lifters. After my truck sat at the dealership for 2 weeks and being told it could be months due to a national backorder on parts, I halfway joking asked if they'd be interested in buying the vehicle. 15 minutes later they offered me $72k for my Tahoe which only had an original sticker price of $68k. SOLD.....Duramax High Country Tahoe on the way. Hope these new 3.0 diesel's don't have a many problems as the 5.3's!!!

Already found and purchased one. Had search high and low to find exactly what I wanted but was able to find one in Texas!

A buddy of mine I just saw this past weekend had a white Premier Tahoe and lifters went out early at 4k ish.  Said he made a big deal with GM corporate and ordered a High Country with his preferred options for similar price.  Sucks but glad ya’ll got it worked out.

Crazy isn't it?  I thought the Suburban/Tahoe/Silverado used to be the working man's trucks.  Now they cost $70,000.  (Median/average US salary is what, around $60,000?)

If you adjust for inflation  they've never really been all that cheap

I feel as though their cost has outpaced inflation, yet quality and longevity have decreased (with the exception of increasingly flashy first glance appearances.)
