I’m experiencing a small thud when I brake or accelerate. I can feel something shift and it’s not the driveline clunk from the TSB.  That’s different and I can identify that. I also hear a metal noise going over speed bumps or angled driveways like metal hitting metal but not every time.

Shocks are all new, spare is secure, and nothing is rotted or rusted through. My suspicion is the bushings for the leaf springs are shot causing the shifting. The springs are not broken. 2005 Silverado crew cab 4x4 175,000 miles

I would suspect you may have a broken center bolt in the leaf spring. You may have to loosen the ubolts to get a good check. if it is broken replace the u bolts as well or it will break again. all parts available at NAPA

That's good advice  from Richard, I'll like to add (given the mileage of your truck) 1 other possibility;  I'd be thinking about the bearings in the rear axle, the outer ones. They are easy to replace, you can borrow the tools at Auto Zone or O'reilly's or NAPA. What's a "clunk from the TSB"? I had a clucnk but it was caused by the usual issues a a 4l 60 E has.

Control arms were just replaced and fixed a different sound. The clunk from the TSB is the forum famous “my truck clunks when I shift from drive to reverse or vice versa”. The standard driveline slop

for the scraping noise check the tin exhaust shield , make sure its tight and not bent so that its hitting the driveshaft when the angle changes. you may want to double check the control arms to make sure the bolts are still tight

did you find anything? that's the 1 thing I don't like about this forum, you give advice and rarely hear back on the results. we all learn from each other when we hear the results. pardon my venting
