I can't seem to find a replacement fuel filter for my GMC Sierra SLE LC9 5.3. GMparts says discontinued, but has a fuel filter kit. What gives? A Change?

It doesn't exist, that's why.

 

There is no fuel filter on these trucks. The only thing that "filters" the fuel is the sock on the fuel pump assembly. The only time that gets replaced is if the fuel pump fails and you replace it with a new one.

 

There hasn't been fuel filters on these trucks since the mid 2000's.

The reason for this question is that I have noticed that if I stop and let the truck idle for 2 or 3 minutes, and sometimes at a red light, that when I start to take off, the engine will not take the gas, and if I don't let off the accelerator, it will die. It starts right back up and runs fine most of the time. If I let off when it does this and give it several seconds it accelerates fine. No codes or anything. Any ideas?

do you have a check engine light? I would try cleaning the MAF sensor and the throttle body as well as checking the fuel pressure and volume at hot idle. even with no CEL have it scanned for pending codes and if you find anything follow the trouble shooting tree for that code. Codes do NOT mean replace the part. you may have to do an idle relearn after cleaning or disconnect the battery and touch the cables together may work

If yours were mine I'd put a Tech-2 on it and take a good look at the fuel pump for starters.
