I am new to this forum so forgive me if I sound dumb. My 2018 Silverado voltmeter gauge shows erratic volts. Sometimes a little over 12 volts sometimes the normal 14 volts. This happens when running. Electrical draw makes no difference. This has only happened a few times and recently. My wife tried to use remote start a while ago, and the lights blinked indicating vehicle was starting, however it did not start. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

The charging system on these trucks is headed toward fuel efficiency so sometimes it's charging when running and sometimes not.

Voltage is computer controlled through the PCM/BCM now, like he said it will charge at different voltage depending on the demands of the computers.

Usually only a check engine light or a dead battery would cause the remote start to not function.

Thank you both for your reply, I feel so much better now. Oil change coming up will have service department check remote start issue. Thanks again

Mine looks the same, only much dirtier. I live in Rhode Island where they lather the roads with SALT, and it is winter. By the way, when truck went in for oil change they found out the hood latch needed replacement. Figure that one out. Remote start won't work because of the hood latch. Oh well, at least the service department is trying to get GM to pay for it. Anyone interested dealer is Paul Masse South in South Kingstown (Wakefield), RI
