Rear passenger side tires stick out about 1/2 to 1 inch more than all the other tires

Rear passenger side tires stick out about 1/2 to 1 inch more than the all the other tires. I've noticed it for a while and it's been bugging. Is this normal? What could be wrong and how can I fix it? Could it possibly be that one wheel offset could be different than the others and is causing this and possibly a shipment mistake?

I think it is the offset and am going to take it back in next Saturday to have it looked at. I am paranoid about it lol Also, I don't think the bed is off to one side.....its a newer truck and ne

The track of the front wheels is supposed to be wider than the rear.

As far as I'm aware the drivers side should be out as much as the passenger side. But you can take car of the track difference by installing wheel spacers.

You can add wheel spacers to the front. They go in between the hub and the wheel, in turn pushing the wheel/tire out further. This common practice.

 

There's others on this forum that more knowledgable than me on this subject. Hopefully they chime in.

 

But you'll want hub centric/wheel centric spacers. Your hub bore is 78.1mm. The rest depends on whether or not your running an oe wheel or an aftermarket one.

 

As to why you have one side that lines up and the other doesn't I don't know.

Yeah , that wouldn't make since to put spacers on it would it? That would mean I would put spacers on only 3 tires.

its most likely that wheel has a different offset. not hard to check with a ruler/ tape measure

Also, I don't think the bed is off to one side.....its a newer truck and never drive crazy or anything. Also, I've had people adjust my alignment, rotate tires etc and they never said anything about it. So, if it wasn't lined up right I would think someone would have noticed and pointed it out to me. 

We'll see when I take it back to the shop.

Does the bed line up with the cab even on both sides.

Use a straight edge of cardboard. 

I bet it's off.

Stock suspension?  Any modifications to the truck?

 

Measure the distance from the rear leaf spring to the hub backing plate, it should be the same on both sides.  If not, the differential/axle has shifted.

 

Is the truck new to you?  Perhaps an unreported accident from a previous owner?

That was never mentioned in the thread, but certainly adds to the need to measure from leaf-backing plate to ensure the rear diff was installed correctly.

It's STILL running and I've never been inside the engine, aside for the timing cover since it was leaking, so I threw a new timing set in since that makes sense. Transmission is ORIGINAL. Electric pump in the gas tank is ORIGINAL. Rear end is ORIGINAL. I'd have to hit my head REAL hard to want to pay $60k or more for a car that still can't come close to the comfort, seating and storage space, or reliability of this one. Nothing is even in the ball park!       Since I'm the one who has to fix them when they break, I'll take vehicles over 30 years old all day, EVERY day, over ANY modern crap. Have you attempted any repairs on anything built after 2006? It's a friggin nightmare, and gets worse the newer the model year.    If I had the will or desire, I can make any car of any age outside of a Model T (I don't have THAT much will ...) just as powerful, comfortable, and have all the tech the new stuff does, and get pretty close in mileage, too. I prefer SIMPLICITY. The less the vehicle has, the less to fix WHEN it breaks, not IF.   I'm glad you snot-nosed punks don't like them. More for us, plus that keeps the prices from climbing more than they already have.👍

      Bringing this thread back on topic. I just noticed the incredible lack of bright chrome across the entire new lineup. Even the Denali has tinted the brightwork in the grille and has none elsewhere. None of them have chrome bumpers. As far as I can tell there aren't even chrome mirror caps. I'm curious if this also happens out back? Are there no chrome rear bumpers either? This is quite the departure for GMC.
