2.7 turbo re-tune opt

Has anyone heard if Gm will offer a re-tune option for us 2019 - 2022 limited 2.7 turbo owners? I’m seeing the 2022 refresh models will be at 430 torque now. I would definitely pay for this.

Cadillac 2.7L = 325 HP and 384 Tq out of basic L3B so I think if the software would accept the change its possible, GM techs pipe in. 

 

Here's where GM made some hardware changes to take that TQ increase including 8 speed and engine reprogramming.

No.  Its more than just tuning that's been done.  GM strengthened the block, 30% stronger crank and new bearings to handle the power.

Would work if tuning can be done yet.  Same engine in the Cadillac.

Too bad then. I hope there is some custom tunes available in the future then.

I’d take a tune with those Caddy numbers if they offered it. I’m not complaining about the current setup I find it plenty peppy around town but will always take more if I can get it!

Correct, and imo they won't be any time soon.. Military grade encryption

Good point. Cadillac makes 325 HP and 384 TQ in same L3B engine without mods but maybe its a truck durability thing?  

Last work I did with ECM programming was 2014 for a OEM and that was as a chem engineer validating programming to reality in the HD engines.

So you can’t currently tune any of their engines? Last GM vehicle I had was a 2009 Pontiac G8 GT V8 and there where plenty of tunes available for it. I guess things have changed since then?

Nothing with Global B Architecture.

 

As to what years this applies to with the Silverado/Sierra I'm not sure. 

 

If I were to guess I would say 2022 models have it. 2021 models might have it?

 

If you really want to, you can run your own computers in tandem with GM's computers. But think, "LOTS" of money. This has been successful on c8's with aftermarket turbo's etc.

The tow rating went up significantly, couple thousand IIRC.

That's pretty significant mate.  This engine now has more torque then some V8s and that torque is all down low .

Don't get me wrong, you will definitely feel that.

 

It's just that imo a new block, stronger crank/bearings warrant a much greater power increase.

 

Usually there's fairly significant wiggle room for power increases before it actually becomes an issue.

 

Anything made for boost I see GM over engineering the heck out of it first time around. 

 

Just my opinion. Nothing wrong with being stronger!
