Misfire Cylinder #4 - Lifter Issue 2015 Silverado

Hi Everyone - my 2015 Silverado LTZ has just over 49k miles and is out of warranty. Truck has been cared for very well. I have owned many Chevy's to include Corvettes, Camaro Zl-1, Suburban, and Silverados. Actually, I was just about to order a Tahoe for the wife too. This is the first time I have experienced a problem like this with a Chevy. Dealer is quoting $4100 to fix one side; then if cam and other side need to be repaired I could be looking at up to $9000.

I realize truck is outside of warranty, however, I also feel that I shouldn't have this problem at 49k miles. Has anyone been just outside of warranty period and received any assistance from GM? I'm not sure what to do at this point or how long it will take to fix the truck. It's been at the dealer for 3 days and I can't even get a phone call back from the dealer's service manager. I contacted GM customer service and have been told it could take up to 4 more business days for GM to make a decision on whether it will assist with the repairs. The truck just sits, and I'm assuming it may take a long time to even get parts to fix the truck. I'm leaning toward just cutting my loss, fixing the truck and getting rid of it.

It's really unfortunate as I've always been a loyal GM customer and I love the truck otherwise. But, to have a TSB issued and face a class action lawsuit, at what point does GM step up and issue a recall? In this climate, it may not matter much to GM to lose me as a customer, but I will not buy another vehicle from GM if they offer me no assistance with this repair. If anyone has dealt with a similar issue with truck just out of warranty, please tell me how the situation was resolved. My guess is that I'm on my own with this... Thanks

Is a 7 year old truck even considered just out of warranty? A 2015 would have come with a 5 year 100,000 mile warranty, so unless it was an extended warranty it's 2 years out by model year.

My parents truck had a lifter failure at 50,000 miles on their 2016 last summer. It cost them about $2,000 to replace both the lifters on that side for that cylinder. They traded it in right after because the used market was going through the roof.

GM said good luck to us on helping with costs and the truck was only 5 months out of warranty based on the purchase date of the truck.

Get a quote from a different shop. You're getting hosed at $4,100 for just one side.
