I have a 2000 Silverado 1500 that the BCM is causing a power drain. I am looking to replace the BCM. It will have to be programed to the anti-theft for my truck correct? Would this be the procedure to have it running properly ?

Turn ignition from OFF to CRANK, allowing the vehicle to try and start. The vehicle will start and stall. Leave the ignition on and observe the "Security" indicator on the instrument panel. When the security indicator turns off (10 minutes), turn the ignition key off and wait 10 seconds. Repeat the procedure 3 more times. The new "password" is learned on the next start attempt.

Also, any recommended source for the BCM itself? Anything I am missing from getting this repaired with just buying a new BCM? Thanks!

I’m pretty sure you have to have a Tech-2 to program any control module, it has to be programmed to the entire truck not just the theft lock.

It looks like the radio is also causing a draw. Would this be related to the BCM or do I have a separate issue with a draw from the radio?

I bought some kind of module at parksgeek.com. They had the best price I could find for a Dorman modual.
