Turning radio off

Dumb question here. Is there a way to turn the radio off?  New 22 Sierra LTD. 

I can mute the radio but only way to turn off is to kill the center stack but then I loose all the icons. Turn it back on and there is the radio playing away. 
Dealership was of no help. 
So, is there a way to turn the radio off or does it play all the time ( or in the background while muted).

Hey Tom, you would turn it off by holding the mute button for about 3-4 seconds. Hope this helps!

That kills the stack, turns off the entire display. And all goes dark.

i want to keep the display with the icons showing, just no radio playing.

It appears that mute or volume all the way down are the only options.

So, looks like we can only mute the radio but cannot turn it off. 
Just another piece of control in life that we have lost.

I wish there was a way to turn off the screen but still have radio playing. My F150 had a button to turn off the screen and I love it when driving at night because the screen is so bright but you can't dim the screen without dimming the instrument cluster as well.

No offense, I'm just curious... what is the difference? If you want silence, mute the radio or better yet turn the volume down to zero so it doesn't come back on when you start the vehicle.

 

I remember when iPods came out... people were complaining that there was no stop button, only a pause button. On a digital device... it's the same. I know the music app on my phone does not have a stop button, it only toggles from play to pause. These infotainment systems are computers with a radio app built in (over simplified, but basically)

I have a '21 sierra and you can turn offjust the display. Go to settings then display.
