it is time to replace my coolant (91k) and was wondering if you guys normally do an actual "flush" of the radiator, or just a drain and refill.

should i plan on doing the hoses as well? cap? thermostat?

Picture is of my reverse power flush. Text HOW2 in above hot link.

Consider switching from DeathCool and go to green. Flush every other year, as the 5yr/100K warranty for DeathCool is bogus.

Change the radiator cap and thermostat.

Very good reference link though I totally disagree with the "DeathCool bogus" statement. That has been argued to death and the statement is based on some ancedotal opinion. Vehicles designed for DexCool need DexCool.

Also, there is no radiator cap on the new vehicles. I also disagree flushing with tap water since there are minerals and salts which can contribute to electrolysis, thus causing some gasket and water pump issues. The reverse flush is a very old method and one I used to use for nearly 2 decades. The newer motors are far more sensitive to the water contaminates.

I totally agree with replacing the thermostat at this point.

Always forgetting about locality and water quality. My area has very good tap water and very low mineral content.

No radiator cap is becuase of DeathCool problems. Known problem with O2, so GM moved the cap over to the over flow, which isn't anymore, but pressurized holding tank.

Then whether to us distilled or de-ionized water, DeathCool or green, Robert Shaw or Stant or MotoRad.

These will continue to be discussed till end of time. Use which ever is best for you and your truck.
