I’ve seen a thread on here regarding this topic, but can’t seem to locate it. Anyway, I have a 2021 2500 HD crew cab and both my wife and I have noticed that the front doors rattle when going over bumps. I have read many posts about this issue with 2020-2022 HD’s. Apparently GM knows about this but has yet to come up with a solution. I called the dealership and they have no information about this. Does anyone have any updates regarding this? I’m just trying to avoid several trips to the dealership until a remedy has been found. Thanks

I never thought of that! I will give it a try.  It sounds like my back passenger door is also rattling

I thought mine was rattling but it wasn't, turned out to be the seat belt buckle (that wasn't being used of course) occasionally hitting the side of the door.

Problem Solved!! At least for me. 3 of my 4 doors rattled when going on rough roads. Talked to dealer body shop and he said he has not heard of this problem and that there is no door adjustment on those models. I decided to remove the door catch and attempt to bend it in slightly to see if that fixes the problem. As I was removing the T-40 bolts I found that the housing inside the body was lose. I then noticed that the catch housing has approximately 1/2” of vertical adjustment. I adjusted the two front doors as far up as possible and that eliminated the door rattling. Repeated the process on the rear doors and all is good!!! Easy fix and saved me several trips to the dealer.

Glad to hear the fix. Whenever I see a remedy I screenshot it and put all the pics in a photo album on my phone in case it happens in the future.

Thanks for the advice! I had rattling doors on my 2022 AT4 so I took your advice and moved the catch up as far as it would go and problem was solved.

Moving the catch up like this, did it not mess with your body lines? The gap from bottom to top between two doors?

It does change the gaps some, my truck is black so it's not too noticeable. After moving it up as far as it would go I dropped the catch down about an 1/8" on the front door so that helped with the miss match and it still makes the door close tight. I can live with the miss match but can't stand doors that rattle...

To adjust the door catch, do you have to do it from the inside of the door? Do I have to take my door panel off? My truck is brand new only 16,000 km  I don't really want to have to disassemble the whole door....

I'm curious too!

Hi I have a 2024 AT4 doing the exact same thing. 3 different Chevy and GMC dealer visits in San Diego and they all claim they don't know what I'm talking about.

I the movement damped out with some electrical tape on the striker.

I'm trying to understand what you adjusted when you say door catch. Do you mean the mechanism inside the door? Or the striker mounted inside the door frame at the b pillar?

Posted (edited)

The striker is located on the B-pillar, loosen the screws a bit but don't remove them and move it in the up direction. I ended up adjusting all 4 doors on my 2024 AT4. I put a piece of masking tape below the striker on the B-pillar before I loosened the screws, this allowed me to measure how far I moved it. I adjusted them all about 1/4" in the up direction and it solved the rattling problem. It does change the body line gaps because it lifts the door a little in the closed position but I really don't think it's that noticeable. Hope that answers your questions.
