So here's the deal:

I have a 2010 Silverado LTZ. It currently has a 5.3 with about 178k miles one it. It rides okay, honestly there's nothing wrong with the engine save for it could probably use a gasket refresh given its milage, but it drives just fine down the road. I see on facebook a guy near me is selling a 6.0 from a 1999 something. He has the block, crank, heads and I believe pistons too. Its a sweet deal for what he's asking.

So predictably, im asking you guys if this swap is possible for me and if so, what all would it take? A gear head buddy of mine mentioned the reluctor wheels are different (24x-58x) but I don't know. Any tips or advice? Thanks in advance guys!

P.S.: would I have to swap the transmission too?

The crank and cam triggers are different between the two engines. Plus a bunch of other stuff is all different. It's not a plug and play swap and will be far more trouble than it's worth to swap engines.

Only a GEN 4 6.0 engine would make it easier but again it still requires a few extra things to make those work as well.

You'd have to pull the crank and get the reluctor wheels swapped. Then get the LS2 timing cover and put your cam sensor in there with a new cam gear that can read in 4x.

Then you would probably want to drill new holes for the knock sensors in the side of the block since Gen 3 has them in the valley cover.
