Extended Wheel Studs For 3/8"-1/2" Spacers - FYI

Recommended Posts

I wanted to install 3/8" wheel spacers on my 2021 SIlverado 1500 RST Crew Cab, Short Bed, 4x4. I was not comfortable with adding the spacers and having about 7 turns on the lug nuts vs having 13 turns on the lug nuts without the spacers. I wanted the same amount of thread purchase or more, so I went on a mission to find extended studs for my truck and this is what I found. These have enough threads to accomadate 3/8" or 1/2" spacers (the front and rear has about 15 turns now with the spacers on). Now, I don't know if the 2019, 2020, 2022 are the same, but these definitley work on the 2021 4x4.

Front Wheel Studs:

Stock - GM # 12451949

Extended - Dorman # 610-530

Rear Wheel Studs:

Stock - GM # 1245948

Extended - Dorman # 610-490

Great so they allowed you to use 1/2 inch spacers ?

are the studs hard to change in these trucks ?

The rear studs are easy to change. Just take off the brake discs and punch out. The front required removing the hubs, while not that hard took about an hour per side.

Only thing I’m seeing in these is for ford trucks, it’s also saying these won’t fit. Like I’m not saying your lying I just wanna make for sure they fit before I spend the money and buy them

They fit. I singled these studs out by measurements down to a thousandth of an inch using a micrometer.

thank you so much for this info.  recently installed 1/2" spacers on my trail boss (stock 18" wheels) to fit 35x12.5 tires, leveling kit, Bilstein struts and cognito control arms. I didn't feel great about the 7 thread engagement and couldn't find any other info about extended studs.

@Diamond817

This is great information, I was just typing up a new thread on this exact question so really appreciate you posting the parts numbers. Couple questions for you:

  1. You ended up going with 3/8" spacers, correct?
  2. What brand spacers did you buy?
  3. They were hub centric, correct?
  4. Did you also buy aftermarket lug nuts?

Appreciate your help on this!
