As the title says, I have a 2022 GMC 3500 Denali that had the $200 discount for no rear heated seats. The money cost doesn't matter over the $200 discount to add them.

Center console does not have the switches. Don't know what to look for to see if the seats have the heating element. Haven't torn the center console apart to see if wiring harness is there.

Any help on determining if the heating elements are there.

Has anyone added the rear heated seats back in after gm tossed them due to chip shortages? Only want the oem system.

If it's doable, do you have part numbers?

I have a 21 GMC 1500 Denali that I can use the vin for, to look up parts at the dealer, if I knew what parts were eliminated.

Did you check the part number of seats online?   that should tell you.

I'm waiting on deliver of a 2022 2500 LT and my understanding from my dealership was this was an inconvenience credit so that GM could get the vehicles shipped out. The harnesses and parts that were available are installed, but because of the chip shortage, the control module likely isnt, therefore the buttons arent. Talk to your dealer, but my dealer said when the parts are available it will be retrofitted at no cost. In my case, it appears heated front seats are working, but the heated steering wheel and the front/back parking assist are not.

This is from an email with their internet sales person in the lead up to my purchase...

"The window stickers that have credits...
So, what GM is doing to try to ramp up production is build more vehicles.
In order to do so, the system that they have currently adopted is this,
If a vehicle is ordered and accepted by production with specific features, including but not limited to, front and rear park assist, heated steering wheel, heated and/or front ventilated seats, they are building these vehicles to be eventually equipped with these features, but they may not be functioning at the time of delivery.
They are planning on doing a retro fit at a later date with no charge to the customers as soon as the parts become more readily available.
In the meantime, they will be crediting vehicle invoices for the inconvenience. "

I am under the impression you are correct. GM gave a small credit for the things you listed.

I'm understanding though, on the rear heated seats, gm gave a much larger credit for the rear heated seats not being there and won't be retrofitted.

Hope I'm wrong, but I'm not going to put money on that bet.

Check the window sticker, at least in my scenario, there is pretty specific language on it... "INCLUDES LATER RETROFIT"

Yep, I knew those said "later retrofit".

The deleted rear heated seat fiasco has different language...

Ahhh... i got you now... so looking at the diagrams, there should be a heating pad in each side seat (#23) with a connector coming out the back to a harness (35)... I'm not sure where the harness is actually located and what it would be for otherwise. This was for a High Country since I already had it open, but I imagine it's identical.

Poked around the upfitter stuff, so the fuse would be F1 on the driver side, but HIGHLY likely there won't be a fuse there. maybe they have some kind of blank fuse though? I know on my LT, that left hand fuse box doesn't even have the connectors for the fusers behind the slots. So if it has the contacts, that would at least be some good news to start.

Locating that harness and maybe even the mounting bracket would be pretty huge. Maybe someone else can chime in on the actual location if it's under the carpet or behind the rear of the seats.

This article... GM Announces Retrofit Solution for Heated Seat Shortage | News | Cars.com ... seems to provide some language making it sound like you won't have them since they mention a full delete, but I can't imagine they wont be able to retrofit. I'll keep digging cuz it gives me something to waste time on which means I'm not trying to find anything of my own to waste money on, that is of course this can be retrofitted into an LT with cloth seats, lol.

Any luck getting this working @gemarsh?

No, it's on the back burner for now. The weather has gotten hot and I don't have much desire to work on something not needed at the moment.

Curious if anyone has attempted this? Hate to revise a dead thread, but after 2 years there may have been some movement.

    • For some unexplained reason my father wanted a salvage yard. As we were getting the family business off the ground one brother ran the salvage yard. We gathered there when rained out working on pipelines in the eighties to pull parts. Perfectly good running vehicles would come to us simply because they wouldn’t pass emissions inspection. We were able to swap parts and sell some of them. I got a clean old nova with a bad engine. I pulled a perfectly good small block out a Camaro. A father and son project with a rebuilt engine. The son couldn’t get the engine running right. The problem was the spark plugs weren’t gapped. The 90s vehicles probably widened the gap of shade tree do it yourself engine repair. My do it yourself hot rod repair stopped at the 70s. After that my trusted mechanic kept them in running shape.
    • I have an old dental chair in my shop. Something I got for free and apparently it has more than scrap value? People collect them although mine isn't restored or anything. It's visually interesting (1930's Ritter) which is why I like it. And it IS decently comfortable if you kick back.   When a good buddy of mine saw it he said, let me guess, Atlas. It's a conversation piece? As in, you ask the questions, they do the talking?   Where do you hide the jar of teeth?   I would never.
    • Are we talking about the same thing, though? The 7 versus 3 wear metals was from Lakespeed's 3.0-specific oil brand comparison test between AcDelco oil and Mobil ESP. The filter remains a constant so whatever excess particles the AcDelco oil is producing aren't being filtered out.   I'm assuming there's a parallel comparison to be made; IF the filter can filter down those particles, engine life increases, and your graph makes the case that a better filter (lower micron rating) can increase engine life. Introducing fewer particles AND filtering those particles with higher efficiency is the best of all worlds. Good oil, good filter.   Where we may disagree is the "baseline relative engine life". I'm more apt to believe the base engine life value is 200k+ on very average oil and filters, "bulk oil of unknown brand and white-label generic fleet-grade filter, Jiffy Lube"   Going from a 10 micron filter to a 5 micron filter should boost a base 200k to 275k in a vacuum as a single factor alone.   Here's the whatabout: How does regularly changing the oil and filter ahead of recommended schedule influence baseline engine life? Most people aren't going to science the heck out of this stuff or ask about Micron ratings, HTHS, or wear comparison tests at Jiffy Lube. Most of the Jiffy lube techs would say they need to call their tech support line to even try to get an answer.   --   Because we love anecdotes here, when I was fishing for 4.3 parts at a local yard this weekend, ALL of the 4.3 vehicles had well over 200k. I love looking at odometers of junked vehicles. How far did THIS go before landing at the crusher? The ones that still had engines weren't seized. None of them were vehicles I'd consider were Amsoil queens, in fact most of them had some kind of service cling-sticker in the corner of the windshield indicating it probably had very average maintenance services. Even the fresh parts rigs- I'm not sure taking an S/T series to 400k has much value considering the running value of those vehicles was probably somewhere around $1,000. 25+ years is a good run on time alone.   The intake manifold I salvaged had clean and bright pool areas. As expected, I found the fuel lines in the manifold rubbed through, just like mine. I'm guessing the lines on that donor truck started leaking, the truck started running rough, and its owner said that's enough I'm unwilling or can't take it out of service for several days, or spend $1000+ to repair it at a shop, it's simply time for a newer more reliable vehicle (or, more than likely, this is the 2nd, 3rd time this has happened in the truck's lifetime). While I don't count on my Blazer for reliability, the thought of giving it away for parts at certain points during my adventure, and being mentally free from its needs has has crossed my mind. I'd be losing $1500 or so, but I can only make more money; not time.
