I'm curious how the trucks with Supercruise are on non-supercruise roads? Does it do better in stop and go than the current adaptive? I assume there has to be a couple of these in the wild by now.

Supercruise order code still talks about 'late availability'.

UKL   Super Cruise, a hands-free driver assistance feature for use on compatible roads, includes automatic lane changing and trailering capability, 3-year subscription
1 - Late availability. Included with (RFP) Denali Reserve Super Cruise Package. Requires T*10543 model and (CWM) Technology Package. Not available with (L84) 5.3L EcoTec3 V8 engine or (PEC) Denali Reserve Package.
2 - Late availability.

1 -- Denali

2 -- Denali Ultimate

(it will be optional on Denali and standard on Denali Ultimate, and optional on 1500 High Country)

Gotcha. I didn't realize it still hadn't hit the roads in the new trucks yet. Thanks.

It says late availability but there are denalis and high country’s that include this feature as well as Denali ultimates being delivered right now.

They are hitting the roads. Just not many people have them yet.

The RPO entry posted is for both denali and denali ultimate trims.

As everyone knows, there are lots of trucks shipping features 'not installed'  -- (both optional and standard).

GM's weekly updates of the order guide do a pretty good job of updating info when 'late availability' items become available.

I'd say there is not much change in the function of adaptive cruise on the SC system. On or off a SC enabled road. What are you looking for that would be changed?

Not sure what you are getting at. Are you suggesting that the Denali Ultimates, that come with it standard, and the Denalis/HCs that are built with that option are being delivered without that functionality? Because I haven’t seen that reported anywhere.

Or are you saying that people aren’t actually receiving Denali Ultimates or other trucks with the option? Because they are.

There aren’t a ton of trucks out there with super cruise but there certainly are trucks being built and delivered with it.

Also, isn’t it pretty “late” in the 22 order cycle?

Correct, there's one supposedly in stock at a dealer about 75 miles from me. '22 High Country with High Country Premium II package (required for SuperCruise). I've been keeping my eye out for them, because If I upgrade to a '22 refresh, SuperCruise is on my must-have list.

The aforementioned truck is unfortunately not an LM2, which is also a must for me.

Denali Ultimate is supposed to include UKL as standard.

If GM's order guide is correct, supercruise subject to "late availability' (the post at 11:20 was a cut and paste from the current online guide)

Certainly wouldn't be the first time a sales/marketing type at a dealer got the info wrong.

Also wouldn't be the first time a sales/marketing guy mixed up supercruise with adaptive cruise.

And it also could be that the truck that is supposed to have it does have it.

Maybe someone on here that has a Denali Ultimate will chime in.

I am looking at a window sticker of an inbound (in transit) Denali Ultimate with a sticker price of $86,245.  I called on this truck last Friday, when I found it, and was told its SOLD.

I was curious about how stop-and-go were compared to the adaptive and how LKAS is on non-SC roads.

For example, is the stop and go kinda jerky like the my trucks iteration, or is it smoother? Or, does the LKAS attempt to lane-center on non-SC roads, or is it fairly hands off like the current iteration? Meaning it nudges if you get close to the line, but is in no way a centering function outside of SC roads.

EDIT: I know my truck doesn't have "stop-n-go" capability like the SC trucks are advertised, but it will slow to a stop and go if traffic doesn't stop for more than about 1 second. However, even on the 3rd bar setting, allowing it to come completely to a stop can be slightly uncomfortable with the current calibration of my adaptive cruise system. (2021 Silverado HC)

I would highly doubt they changed much in the way it operates even in the SC system. It probably defaults to the way LKA works now. They don't really want you to rely on the LKA much. As in hands off driving. I have a straightaway near the house that goes about 2 miles. I can take my hands off and the LKA will keep it going pretty good. However after 30 sec I believe it is. There is a warning that pops up to put your hands on the wheel. Now if you don't answer that warning. I'm not sure if the collision avoidance kicks in and stops the truck or not.

From what I can tell, all it will do is disable cruise if you don't. I've played with it a few times to see where the limitations are.

    • I was around and remember that era very well, so I'm calling b/s on that statement. If they were that bad no police department or taxi company would've bought a single one ... but they were used in both services (and fire) for DECADES. They were bulletproof and proven. Even the early 21st century ones weren't too bad! The early models were legendary.   Mine is proof, but people like atlas are blinded by agenda and refuse to believe facts right before their very eyes.   Even decades after they were built, a new generation started driving them, posting all their builds and shenanigans on Grandmarq.net and Crownvic.net. The failures would show up then, since they all were deep past 100k-150k miles by that point, and younger drivers tend to be a little aggressive, especially with vehicles than can lay a one-tire fire for as long as you hold your foot in it. They've more than proven themselves over the decades.   The only thing that'll really take them out is road salt. The bodies and sheet metal were garbage. A victim of the cheapout FoMoCo and GM have been partaking in before then, and since.   Today it's the stuff that counts - the undercarriage that rots away first!    GMs Caprice was no slouch either. Reliable as a stone ax - the opposite of what they build now.
    • Let me know how your vehicles do in 10 years. You don't know ******, kid. 😂    There's a reason that Panther platform was used as police, fire, and taxi service for DECADES ... long before you were born, apparently.
    • If your connector also has a big lever to get the connector on and off, you don't want to force the lever either way, as it becomes a bigger problem if you bust the lever or the mechanism it works.
    • It's just useful to disconnect the battery to prevent odd shorting out when unplugging/plugging stuff together.  I also  touch the two cable ends together (after disonnecting) to drain the small amount of stored battery energy in various modules.   I believe the main system where you need to be more concerned with, so you need to do the above and then wait some time, iss when you are working on the air bag system, to prevent inadvertent firing of the air bags.   The in-cab switches are just that, plain switches, it's generally not a problem to swap them in/out.  For my '12, I'll get an error message on the dash if I power up the truck w them unplugged, but that's it (power up= turn the ignition on).   The ITBC located above the spare tire is a computer that manages the trailer brake system.  That is probably more important to have the battery disconnected.  It does have to be programmed to the truck, either before or after it's installed, for it to work.  For my '12, I had a very hard time reinstalling the main connector to it (IDK if yours is the same or not), it turned out the silicon seal was jamming up, preventing it from going on all the way.  I finally got it fully installed by lubing the seal with a bit of dielectric grease, then it slid on and latched in place easily.
    • JR ! I just got the truck back from the Dealership today . The technician did a cold remote start on the truck this morning and it made the noise . It was determined that it was a starter issue and replaced it under warranty . Of course   it did not make the sound after a new starter was put in because the truck was not cold . We will we see what happens tomorrow morning when I start the truck cold  . Keep tuned !   Oh I found a video on YouTube of a cold start and it did the same thing your truck and mine do , I will see if I can find it and post it up
