I have a 2020 AT4 and the coating making the trim "black chrome" is starting to peel off, leaving of course, chrome. I spoke to my dealer and their response was its only warranted against rust through.  Which is great on plastic parts.  It's a minor complaint compared to the engine and trans problems others have had but still, barely over two years old less than 17k miles and washed every week.  Not Professional Grade. This photo is just one spot, on the side so it is not a stone chip.

How exactly are you washing the truck? Washing every week is a bit excessive. You have to remember the more you touch components, the more wear and tear occurs. Are you using towels or air blaster (or leaf blower) to dry? Using the two bucket method or foam cannons?

You're lucky to be honest. I have a 2019 AT4, and the trim around both if my foglights, as well as parts of my grille have majorly peeled and flaked off.

Just for reference, I don't use harsh chemicals or drive down gravel roads where I have a lot of chips to cause this issue.

I asked my dealer and they said they would split the cost of the repair. But they wanted me to pay over $1000....Each foglight surround is $134. I'm talking Canadian dollars.   So you can do the math on the labour they wanted to charge me to partially unclip my bumper cover on each side.

Couple things to remember with GM.

Never buy a GM car or truck with painted black rims or chrome, always go for the machined with painted accents and or polished finish!

Never buy a GM car or truck with painted plastic trim!
