Higher oil pressure with fram ultra synthetic oil filter?

on my 2014 silverado 1500, 5.3 engine I've been useing the various versions of ac pf63 filters. With that, my idle speed oil pressure has always been around 25 psi and then around 40 psi when driveing at normal speeds. Just installed a fram Ultra synthetic oil filter and my oil pressure jumped about 8-10 psi at idle speed, to around 37 psi. So my question is where is the pickup point for oil pressure on these engines? before or after the filter, or elsewhere? Just concerned of the possibility that this new high micron filter is holding back flow to the engine and that's why the pressure is higher?  Also the new revised version of pf63 is made in CHINA , if anyone can recommend a good filter thats US made I'm interested.

Two things. 1.) Pressure is regulated from the end of the circuit. 2.) It's a positive displacement vane pump. It will break something before an ounce of fluid is held back.

What engine oil did you change to? Doubt it’s the filter.

Pressure and flow do not correlate, they do not have a direct linear relationship. Ever. The oil pump is positive displacement, it will always push and push and push, even with a restriction or block. In the industrial world, PD pumps require extra care because starting them without giving the fluid a place to go can cause pipes to blow apart. 

 

Personally, I would not worry about it. As long as the oil pressure is within that 20-60 pound gauge range and the oil pressure light/message isn't on, drive it and don't worry about it. I buy whatever oil is on sale and within spec, and I always buy the premium filter. My gauge swings all over the place and I don't give a rats.
