Removing the 4x4 Sticker

Recommended Posts

I removed my side molding on both side of the truck and it looks awesome to say the least. I would still like to get the 4x4 sticker off the bedside though....

I just tried peeling on it a little last night in the garage (The truck was warm) and it didnt seem to budge.

Any tricks on getting this sticker off.

Would I notice anymore color change under that sticker than the molding? There was no color change under the molding and the truck is a late 2001.

I peeled mine off my 2001 HD. it was tough but it did come off. There will be a little sticky around where the stickers were but after a few washes that stuff came off and no color difference under there either. I pulled my stickers off when it was new so i imagine after a few years they are probably a little harder to remove :) Good luck!

I figured that it would be a little harder. I was wondering if anyone had done this on a older truck. I think that having the molding off looks a ton better. And you dont have the mud and water dripping out of the molding every time you wash it. :)

It is very easy. I just removed the ones from my '02. Use a hair dryer to soften the adhesive. Just be persistant with the heat and peeling. Mine came off in about 4-5 pieces. Be very gentle as you are peeling the decal so you can avoid ripping it as much as possible. They do get brittle the older they get though.

For adhesive residue, there are any number of products for that. 3M Adhesive Remover, OOPS!, Goo Gone, and on and on. Just visit your local hardware store.

I have a black truck in Central Texas (hot and sunny summers!), and there was 0% color difference in the paint after removing decals and molding.

I used a hair dryer and patiently worked it slowely just ahead of where I was peeling. I just put a couple coats of wax on it and that cleaned it up real good after I was done.

Get ya a piece of fishing line...Heat up the side moulding and work

the fishing line back and forth. Start at one end and work your

way down the moulding.....................geo

bigjeepinyj,

Was it easy pulling off the moulding? Anything special used to do it?

Sonny,

It was easy. I waited for a warm winter day here (about 40). Heated up both sides with a hair dryer. Then took some fishing line like mentioned above and worked it behind the molding. It worked well. It looks awesome.

You would believe the amount of dirt and grime behind the molding.

Yea, I hate that moulding. Glad to hear it's relatively easy to remove. It dosen't have any clips, holes or anything like that does it?

99 and up body side moulding is held on by 2 sided

sticky tape....NO HOLES...........

Also if you hate your fender flairs on the 2500s and some

1500s they are held on by sticky tape too and a few plastic

clips ...But No holes in the side of body either...99 and up only !

Hated mine...Long Gone the first day !...........geo
