Windshield Washer Odor

Whenever I use the windshield washer feature on my wipers, I can smell a distinct 'washer fluid' odor. Does the washer hose/mechanism pass through the inner cab?

 

P.S. Windows and doors are always closed when I operate the system.

thats because you have a positive pressure cab,and the air intake is on the cowl under your wiper blades

Dilute the fluid further with additional water, and the smell should be less noticeable. (I did the same thing to my truck by adding a whole gallon to the reservoir.)

I use Canadian Tire Motormaster windshield washer fluid with extra detergents and is rated to -45 C. Whenever I spritz the windshield, I just about puke. Really.

 

 

My 1990 4Runner was like that too, though not quie as bad for some reason.

I got some washer fluid at walmart many years ago and peeyooo it stunk, so bad I had to get a turkey baster to suck it out ... after that I have always used gm's optikleen

I was at walmart today and saw they had "Winter Pine" and some other fragrance that was red!

funny ive never smelt anything, and i noticed somebody say water it down? dont even think about it unless u live in florida or something, its got anti freeze in it if u dulute it it will freeze and not only not work but maybe crack your storage tank and or hoses/pump can u say cha ching???? $$$$

I did suggest watering it down. Living in the south, we don't stop to consider the freezing aspect of the equation down here. Sorry! Guess there should have been a disclaimer on the water it down idea! Thanks for pointing that out.

I've never smelled anything when using the washer fluid in my '01, dosen't matter if I am cruising or sitting still. I wondered why anyone would buy a fragranced washer fluid!
