'21 1500 AT4 Duramax right Tail light not working.

This morning a coworker let me know that the rear right tail light (constant led on when headlamps are on) isn't working. Turn signals and break lights work.

Anyone has had this issue and is there a way to fix it before having to go through the hassle of taking it to the dealer?

By the way, I searched and didn't find the answer hence the question.

Imo, this is more of a hands on situation. We'd need to know more visually. Might be a good idea to just get it to the dealership for warranty repair.

I called the dealership and they said it is probably a bad lamp assembly and they need to replace the whole thing. The problem is that the tail light is on backorder and eta is longer than 6 weeks. Now I'm stuck with a non functional tail lamp and can be cited at any time.

Plenty of them on ebay. Either factory ones or aftermarket style ones.

True but it should be replaced under warranty. No sense in spending the money.

Well, turns out that by using a fuse tap on fuse 41 to power the O'Reilly led amber lights on the grill, it somehow affected the tail light. I decided to remove the tap and re-installed the fuse to see if that was the cause, sure enough, the tail light is working.

I'm thinking somehow the minimal current drop (taken by the amber grill lights) caused a malfunction.

I followed the instructions from someone in this forum to tap fuse 41 but that caused the problem.

Yeah, I found it's very sensitive myself. I put aftermarket lights in my Custom that have sequential LEDs and have resistors on the headlights themselves. Suddenly it started saying my right signal was out. I looked and it was working fine but fast flashing. The only thing I could think was I had disconnected some BCM plugs when I was trying to add my long range remote start. I wiggled the plugs and then on the next restart all was back to normal.

Very sensitive electrical system. I haven't had the chance to see where I can tap the led lights without causing any issues.

When I added additional lights for backup and cargo lights I had to use a relay and tap the wires for the signal and pull power from the 12v constant in the trailer harness. You would need to do something similar underhood.

Usually tapping into OEM wiring to power additional device is not a good idea as the draw could overload the circuit. Tap the circuit to use as a trigger source and a dedicated relay to power the add on device.

My 21 Silverado lt just had the right tail light stop working. I took it off to inspect the bulbs. All 3 bulbs have unbroken filaments. I could find no information about which fuse might control it. I am going to check fuse 41 now. My local mechanic said the last chevy that had this issue had to get a new computer. I also keep losing GPS and my auto shut off only works 25% of the time. I am worried that the tail light is the tip of the iceberg.

My '21 Silverado has the same problem. In the owners manual, there's a blank next to fuse 41. It does say something about rear lights for fuse 81. Gonna look when I get home from work.
