Recently my backup camera has become blurry. I can still see everything just looks like there is a fog over it. I was looking at the lens and it looks like the lens is foggy. Can you just replace the lens or do you have to buy a new camera? If you can replace lens does anyone have a part #? If not what does the camera cost? My truck is a 18 GMC Sierra 1500 6.2 dbl cab SLT All Terrain Edition.

Thanks

I see the stock one is $128 before tax. I wonder how much better that camera is price is $184 with remote tailgate.

Click on the link and head towards the bottom of page, then click on the before/after images. It seems to be a pretty good improvement.

Hard to say by a pic. I thought my stock one was great until the lens got fogged.

The $184 camera has a larger viewing angle on all sides compared to the factory camera. So the question is, is paying $56 more for a slightly better and larger image worth it to you? I'm personally on the fence. I'd like to know how the $184 camera performs at night. To me that's where the factory camera is weakest. I'd gladly pay $184 if it's better at night.

I replaced the one on my 2016 with a Dorman. The picture is a little better but the haze is gone. It wasn't too bad to replace, I had to drop the spare tire. The attached picture is at 545 AM, so it was between night and daylight, as you can see above my dash.

Please update this in a month or 2. I saw several reviews talking about this camera failing shortly after installing it.

I had it installed about 7 months and I blasted it with my power washer and water got in it. I contacted Dorman, they said that it was under warranty and gave me the Amazon liason phone number. It's been replaced for 4 months now, that picture above was 2 weeks ago. As with any Chinese crap your mileage will vary, but they will replace it. I have the number should you need it.

I just put the Dorman in and the picture looks good. Will see how it lasts. Stock only lasted 4 years which is pretty sad.

Great, if you have any problems here is the email I received from Dorman for a warranty replacement:

Yes there should be a warranty. Since its been passed the 30 day return, you would have to contact RPS Marketing for the warranty. Their number is 1-425-806-5139.

After using the dorman for the first time at night i think the stock was better. I think i will return it and go back to stock. I wish you could just buy the camera (not the whole harness) for the stock one cause it is connected to the harness with 2 screws and just unplugs.
