USB A to Dual USB 2020 Sierra Pro - Use XM Module add on and Google Car Play

I did a search but didn't find much on the topic. It drives me a little nuts not being able to use the Sirius/XM module and car play (google maps) at the same time. I have the base single USB a connection on the dash but would like to upgrade to the dual USB A and USB C ports not only so i can charge my phone but use Car Play while listening to XM. If i pull my single port panel out i have what appears to be power and the USB connection that i assume goes to the radio module. Is there a way to make this work without upgrading module and ripping this who truck apart? Is it as simple as a another USB wire ran from the second port to the module? pics below of the back of the two units.

What model Sierra and what radio do you have?

Do you have a console with USB connection? If not, this should work for you to replace the existing USB module.

That is weird, I did the same thing as you did. I have a 2020 Custom Trail Boss with the IOR stereo and changed the single USB to the dual USB and it works fine. I can play XM while having Car Play on screen. I can even have both my wife’s and my phone connected at the same time and play from one or the other. After you connect your phone does it bring up Car Play automatically? I do notice that it will go to what you had selected before you got out of the truck last time whether that is you listening to your phone, radio or XM. Next time you plug your phone in and it goes to Car Play, hit your home button, tap the XM app, select your station, then hit the home button again and tap on the Car Play. Usually that allows me to listen to XM while having the Car Play up when I’m using maps. I hope that helps some.
