octobers fade Posted March 5, 2023 Posted March 5, 2023 (edited) First of all I am not a mechanic, I am just trying to save some money, and I am replacing my blower fan and resistor. I have watched some youtube vids and replaced the blower but I can not find the resistor. Can someone, please point me in the right direction? Edited March 5, 2023 by octobers fade Adding pics

CamGTP Posted March 6, 2023 Posted March 6, 2023 (edited) The resistor is built into the blower motor assembly. This is straight from a parts listing for the blower motor with AC Delco. It doesn't matter what cab or anything, it's all the same. Quote RWD; Standard Cab Pickup; MOTOR INCLUDES BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR PER SI DOC 5258735 Edited March 6, 2023 by CamGTP 1
mikeyk101 Posted March 6, 2023 Posted March 6, 2023 Maybe this will help??? You can check this by accessing the panel behind the fuse box, and looking for the resistor module. Once you locate the resistor module, inspect the metal connector. If it needs to be replaced, you must cut the connector, splice it, and replace it with a new connector. https://chevroletforum.com/how-tos/a/chevrolet-silverado-2014-present-why-does-my-blower-motor-not-work-389341

Nothing I found searching, or videos I watched said that. 1
octobers fade Posted April 27, 2023 Author Posted April 27, 2023 Ok, I asked the shop that was working on my truck and got an answer: The resistor is not a part of the blower motor and is located behind the dash, the book time is a four hour job and I was quoted $650. No wonder there are zero vids for the repair and little info out there about it.

Logan Blackwell Posted May 9, 2024 Posted May 9, 2024 Can you elaborate on what the mechanic told you about it being behind the dash? There is absolutely nothing online that shows where this resistor is. I have a 2016. I also dont follow where Mikeyk’s picture is. I have looked all over and I don’t think that’s the same as my 2016. I replaced my blower motor and I still have the same issue, after 10 min or so the fan slows down then stops blowing much at all.
Mike Fisherr Posted August 20, 2024 Posted August 20, 2024 I have had this same issue for quite some time on my 14 Sierra. Were you able to get it fixed? If so, what was the solution? Would greatly appreciate the help.
wiestandrew Posted September 20, 2024 Posted September 20, 2024 I replaced the blower motor on my 2018 Silverado and can confirm that the resistor is built within the housing of the blower motor. You can see it here.
