I have the dealer supplied Auxiliary switch upfitter package - how to get through the firewall on a 2024 3500 HD gas engine truck?

Thanks for the pix JC

How exactly did you snake the 12v line?

Did you go through the cab on passenger side or from the engine side?

Did you have to remove anything?  Felt insulation on the cab passenger side or the battery on the engine side?

What implement did you use to snake the wire?  Coat hanger or wire snake?

Thanks in advance

I haven't got a kit yet. i should have made that clear.  Everyone is looking for the place to pass the wire through. I think this is were it is supposed to go through. the switches on the new interior are in the middle so id think they wont run the wire to the drivers side. and so you know this is my 22 refresh 1500 with 3.0l Should be the same though.

Haven’t seen a photo of it yet but there are a few videos of gm reps saying they are going to go in this cubby… IMG_1396.thumb.jpeg.403459d4cf4cba3b12aaecfc9e20e656.jpeg

I can get a photo of that rubber mat removed tomorrow. There is a rubber probably 3/8" plug on the bottom of the mat that fits into a hole going through center console.

They are updating the work instructions to use the passenger's side grommet as mentioned on previous post.  The driver's side grommet changed for 2024 to help installation at plant but created problems with getting wires through the grommet.

You wouldn't happen to have a photo of the new upfitter switches installed in that area would ya?

GM Upfitter Eng. Robert Casper replied to my request for 9L7  Update. Said he is the one writing the Installation Bulletin to be # UI-193.  The old UI Bulletin # 153d and #153e  no longer apply to the '23 and '24's.

Said the Passenger wheel well liner will also need to be removed to install the harness.

The Pre '23/'24 5 Switch Pod mounted to the left Knee Panel.  On my '24 HD, the Light , 4x4 and park brake controls are there.

That Pod measured 2.5" x 4" O.D.  It could possibly fit on the right of the steering column next to center console. To the Left of the Ignition Start Switch. It's a tight spot, but the old 5 switch Pod could fit there.

However some say it will be IN the center console, under the existing row of switches.

Anyone have a pic of the 9L7  Switches Factory installed  ??

Keep looking at the GM Upfitter site, for the new #UI-193 Bulletin release for install instructions and part numbers.

2024 GMC 3500...How do you get the upfitter wire through the Firewall Pass Through? It has a small access at the bottom of the white plastic ring for the main harness. I carefully drilled into the rubber in that access hole. When try feed a Fish Stick through from under the hood it hits something solid inside. All can find on the internet is the boot style to cut off the nib and fish through.

"iworkforGM" (My brother retired from GM and my nephew currently works for GM) Ok I have 2 questions for you, I did my own 2020 upfitters switch install as shown in earlier pictures in this posting. Could you send me a name of a upfitters shop in Utah as I understand there is none per my dealer in Las Vegas / Nevada. I would like to set up the upfitter work when my truck arrives.

1) When will the 193 upfitters option “9L7" for these upfitters switches be released. It seems it is not even on the option list on new truck orders. Is it constrained? Yesterday I ordered my 24 Ultimate D, and dealer said I could add it if there is time and before production, he was able to select the option "9L7"? There were 2 other options that are also on constraint which baffles me. It’s the "PDL" cargo package, and "SOM" the illumination package. Sorry as I know these do not pertain to these discussions.

2) On the new data sheet (#193) for the '24, U Denali, it appears one has to remove the driver’s side left knee bolster? In the earlier 2020 model one had to remove the entire dash above the console as well as the entire top of the console. The reason was to loosen and remove 2 screws so the new bolster could be fastened across the driver’s dash. Is it the same for this updated #193 knee bolster replacement? also how much problem will it to remove the center stack glass screen to remove and replace the plastic bolster panels?

the only part numbers that have change from the 20-23 to the 22i 1500 and 24 HD trucks is the switch's. everything else is the same. you will get a center stack panel instead of a knee bolster to put the new switches in. the wholes for the switch panels are different but i bet you can install the current kit by just making your own hole. Dont know why they would have changed the switch bezel though.
