Something happened Thursday night to begin a stage of parasitic draw. I came out Friday morning to a dead battery on a 1 year old truck. Pulled codes today and this is what I got. Wondering if anyone else has had similar thing. I'm guessing since module has shorted.

Did the vehicle attempt an update/did it show update failed on the radio screen?  There is a known issue with one of the latest OTAs getting the truck stuck in a power draw situation and killing the battery.

The C1555, that doesn't come up as a code in GM land at all so I'm thinking your reader didn't identify it correctly or can't identify what is actually there.  The other three are all low voltage codes.

I updated manually a few weeks ago so no update available. Every night after charging the battery since it originally happened I've come out the next morning to dead battery. Whatever it is is drawing more than 6v 2amps that my battery tender puts in.

Time to take it to the dealer for a battery draw and load test. Batteries can fail prematurely.

Time to drop it off with Beck or Gordon... They have the equipment to locate the problem circuit or confirm your battery is bad.

Update, they replaced the battery yesterday because the old one had dead cells and tried to get me to pick it up. I told them to let it sit over night and test it again in the morning. Low and behold, I got a call from them first thing this morning and the battery is so dead they couldn't even unlock the doors with the key fob. Will keep this thread updated with what they find.

Just called for a update. They have basically been searching all day for the draw and they think they narrowed it down to the tailgate latch switch. Which now that they say something about it, I do remember the tailgate opening on its own once last week before this all happened. It also happened one of the times I had to jump start the truck once it started to get power into the battery. Hopefully that's it.

I’m very interested in this thread. This seems to be a problem on these newer trucks. I’m a tech, although I’m not at Gm right now. I try to stay up to date on These electrical problems. Please keep me up to date.

You can't just park a vehicle and leave it sit for 3 or 4 weeks at a time without the possibility of a dead battery. The C7 Corvette would kill batteries really fast. I always would plug in a Battery Tender when I parked mine. My 2021 F150 and Explorer would also go into deep sleep quickly. I plug my Camaro into my Battery Tender (wired a quick connect in the trunk-trunk mounted battery) when I'm not driving it.

The two vehicles of different brands I owned had aftermarket alarms. After two weeks of non use dead batteries. The one that’s left gets driven once a month. It has a tender. The rest get driven at least once a week no problem.

Hmm, I must be missing some kind of context with these last few comments. But I just want to make it clear that my truck is driven daily and this parasitic draw event happened over a single night after driving it the night prior.

Just got a call from dealer and they said they did a BCM update and video processing module was staying awake when the vehicle was off. We'll see if thats actually the final word on this.

Issue resolved.

The dealer updated the BCM since it was releasing the tailgate uncommanded and reprogrammed the video processing unit to prevent it from staying on. Unsure why it just up and decided to stay on originally but the reprogramming worked. Truck started up just fine this morning so I believe this is taken care of. I did get a brand new battery out of this so that's one more year I don't have to purchase one thankfully.

    • Common Sense Assembly   Your driveline is forgiving of the occasional mistake. It will even often forgive the random serious blunder. But it will not forgive a continuous bad habit.      What? Not everything needs to be a five thousand word essay.
    • We drove about 15 minute east today to visit a friend and saw a steep increase in price in the same county. About 50 cents a gallon steepper.
    • Sure about that? A degree wheel and a dial indicator would lower your degree of assurance in that statement. 😉    It why we have offset keys and dialable timing sprockets. Just say'n.... I've built a few and have never seen one "On the money".
    • I will admit I haven't experimented much with pressure drops beyond the numbers I put in and part of that is that the numbers I used are fairly low and then found out it would trigger regardless at that 35 psi. Having said that I had tried before had changed the placard pressures and being that I have a 1 ton set to 80 on the placard for the rear I believe it triggered close to 60, the front I don't recall now for sure but thought maybe it could get close to 45 from that factory 60 placard pressure. So I never did figure out if it was a number of psi from placard pressure to the alarm or a percentage of the total placard number as some figured it was like a 25% drop from placard pressure would trigger it. So as to try and answer your question, I believe I set the placard pressure on the front to 47 or so and while I run the front tires at 40, they have dipped below that some if its colder and I haven't put "winter air" in yet and never once have had the front alarm go off. I would say that the answer your looking for is no, that if you set your placard pressure to 45, you have a certain amount of room to drop below that pressure before the alarm will go off.    The pressures you decide to run in your truck, that ends up being what makes sense to you based on what your carrying in your truck or if towing, then have to bump them back up to something that will carry the load in the rear and the fronts typically left at the same pressure. It all comes down to that chart I put the link to and using an accurate roadside scale to be your guide, both unloaded and then loaded to know your minimum safe pressures.    I just wish GM would allow a person to change the readings for the tire pressures to the English system of pounds as I have to look at that goofy metric reading that will never ever jive in my head and will go over and change it just to figure out what they are if need be and then change it back.
    • That part I understand, that the dealer can do it. But I'm not understanding why updates that were available to the truck since it left the factory, or the dealership originally, would not still be available to it without dealer intervention.   I'm thinking along the lines of recalls. They stay available until they are completed, regardless of whether they are in warranty or not, or in the hands of the original owner or not. Why not updates as well, especially since some of those can be safety related also?
