anyone happen to take part in this hobby? i decided that since i never had the chance as a kid to play with one i'd try it out now. got a semi decent set of bachmann HO scale stuff. was thinking about getting rid of my .21 project RC10GT and look into some more/better tracks and a better engine, this one doesnt like pulling cars loaded up with change.  that or i'd work on my other r/cs

My dad gave me his complete train set from when he was a kid, a Lionel that is worth several thousand dollars as all the original boxes are still there and it is in great shape.  I've only had it running once, now it sits so I don't wreck the thing.

My hobby that is somewhat related to this is my model farm toys.  I've got tons of them set up on a model farm with buildings and stuff that I made.  I've tried to depict a Midwestern farm such as ours with it.

should combine the train and farming models with some building and stuff and have a scale farming/train town.  except the train being worth a lot becomes a problem.

JP,  How about an "n" gage train...  Those little things are really cool!!!!

I don't have a clue about model trains, don't even know which gauge mine is.  How big is it?  My farm toys are in a 1/64 scale.  Is a N gauge close to that?

If it's a Lionel with big, wide tracks with a rail that runs down the center, I think it's an O scale.  I had one when I was little.  It's in a box somewhere at my mom and dad's house, I think.
