Hey all. I just bought a 2023 Silverado 1500 and I didn’t realize there’s no cigarette lighter outlet for my radar detector. I’ve read that a radar detector can be hardwired. Has anyone here done that? Can you tell me how it is done?  Thank you.

Mirror Tap

I don’t know how that’s done. Is a new wire harness needed?

I don’t speed anymore now that the speed limit is 70 and up. But my phone GPS and WAZE are reliable for hazards and the police. My past experiences with radar detection was they weren’t reliable.

My radar detector seems to be reliable and there’s no 70mph speed limit where I live. So I still want to use it.

Admitting my ignorance, my new truck doesn’t have an auto-dimming mirror. Will there still be power in it to tap into for a radar detector?

Again you chime in with no information. We don't care about your past experiences. He wants to know how to hardwire his radar detector.  If you can't add anything useful STFU.

Some people may find it interesting and useful that using WAZE and iPhones GPS has live traffic and radar reporting. I drive interstates across country several times a year. And found those services more accurate than any radar detectors that I’ve tested with. You really need to get a life and fix your obvious jealousy problem. Or whatever is up your dress.

Jealous of what?

You have a 20 year old avalanch and you know everything apparently. You are the one that needs to get a life. You are on here constantly adding nothing.

Go change your tampon.

I do know everything. That’s why I drive a 20 year old avalanche and a sports sedan a sports car and a mini van. I’m not the one complaining.

What brand detector? Most makers have accessory options. I have V1 detectors and am running their Savy adaptors that power the detectors off of the OBD port in my Silverado and Traverse. Also have an auto mute setting on the adaptor that you can set to mute alerts under the speed you select.

It’s a BelTronics detector. I’m wondering if there would still be power in the mirror assembly since I don’t have the auto-dimming mirror.
