The GMC Build configurator will not let you build an SLT with 22 inch wheels and add the X31 package.

If you add the X31 package, it removes the 22 inch  [ 22" 275/50R22 ] wheels and reverts back to the 20 inch wheels.

Can I purchase a SLT with X31 package and then I add 22 inch wheels myself?

Or is there a technical reason that the 22 inch wheels cannot be added with the X31 package?

The only real reason I want the X31 package ( vs the regular 4X4 option) is that it comes with dual exhaust.

Lower profile 22" speed rates tires are not for off-road.   You will likely do damage tires and wheels due to lower sidewall not to mention lower ground clearance..

Ground clearance does not change by much, if at all. Side wall difference depends on the type of tire and which direction the owner goes for their trucks.

Highway tires are not for off road but can be taken off road pending the conditions.

Yes you can after the fact.  They won't build with them for whatever reason (I assume off road testing requirements internal to GM).

Assuming it comes with 20s on it, no need to change anything for the speedo also as the diameters are the same or within like 1/10th of an inch.

The two factory sizes of the 20" (275/60R20) and 22" (275/50R22) GM uses are 33" (technically 32.8" for the 22" tire) so there would be no real loss of ride height/ground clearance.

If OP went from those two sizes down to the smallest size GM uses (255/70R17) then sure, he'd lose height as that's a 31" tire.

2024 Order guide shows:

Factory won't allow 22's with X31

Perhaps because  22" tires they offer are all season and X31 option comes with AT or MT tires.

Note 4 is SLT

I definitely will not be taking the truck off road. I just wanted the SLT with 4WD and I wanted the dual exhaust feature. Only way to get dual exhaust is X31 package.

You can order a 4WD ( 4x4 emblem ) with 22 in wheels BUT this does not allow the dual exhaust. If you order an the X31 package, you do get the dual exhaust BUT it removes the 22 in wheels and adds back the 20 in wheels. Of course I have heard some people do not like the X31 Rancho shocks, but that is another story (and mentioned on several other threads).
