Adding Multimatic Shocks

I am looking to get the multimatic shocks with leaf springs kit and was looking at the description for them. It says to add them you need the Performance 2-Inch Suspension Lift Kit. Do you have to get this kit? My truck is a Z71 and looks like it has everything except the leaf spring spacers and bump stop bracket.

It needs the Trail Boss 2" lift kit since it's based on top of that for the ZR2.

I put Multimatics on my AT4 without issue. I didn't change the leafs.

 

If your truck has a 2" lift already you should be good to go.

Yes you need the 2 inch kit first as it adds certain items that are needed.  

 

2 inch kit has taller shocks, rear blocks and u bolts, new bump stops, crash compliance brackets and  different CV shafts.

 

If you have composite springs you also need the steel spring kit.

If you buy new rear blocks and hardware you can do it without the GM TB kit.

 

The MultiMatic struts are taller and provide their own lift when installed.

 

Put those on the front and upgrade your CV's to the TB/AT4 CV shafts when you need to and you'll be fine.  Lots of us are running around with a 2" level/lift on stock A arms and CV shafts.  No need to buy all the other GM stuff for north of a grand.

Any 2" lift kit will work.  If you do not go with GM's lift kit, then you will need to purchase the TB CV's separately.

Much better.

 

Less noticeable at slow speeds but still noticeable.

 

At speed is where they really shine. On the highway it almost feels like you're sitting on a beach ball. By that I mean that harsh road input is all but eliminated. On forest service roads with washboards and deep rain ruts it's very noticeable too.

I went ahead and had my dealer order everything I needed out of the trailboss lift kit instead of paying for the shocks and some other hardware that would not be needed. They ordered the multimatic kit and it came with heavy duty leaf springs. They got it all put on and there is a huge difference from before. It rides soft and then gets stiff when it needs to. So far I am very impressed with the difference it made.

      Here's the second UOA on my 22 Wrangler with the Ecodiesel. This has 5k miles on AMSOIL Signature Series DEO 5w-40. The first one was dealer installed oil, no clue what it was, the second is what AMSOIL recommended, European FS 5w-40, Most of the Ecodiesel world is showing great results using the European MS 5w-40, I figured I would see how the DEO works. This is using an Ecoguard oil filter. It's my understanding this engine likes to shed aluminum.  We will see. So far I don't think this is too bad.

      I'm surprised nobody seems to offer a solution like the start/stop device I put in my new truck. Remembers my setting when shutdown. And while it still starts up in start/stop, it stores/evaluates what mode it was in when shut down and will change it whithin a second or 2 of startup. It'd be nice to have something like that for the DRLs.

      2015 Sierra 1500 here. Leaks from the sunroof to front driver side and soaks carpet. How do I fix this? Thanks!

      I will be doing that for sure, but I need to solve who has/ where I can find a bidirectional scan tool that will support OBD 1.5. I'm kicking myself because I ebay'ed a Snap On MT2500 that I didn't think I'd ever need anymore. D'oh!! I'd rather not buy another, so I'll contact a few local shops to see if they have one and how much they'd want to do the procedure. I'd rather have the ability to do it myself... I wish there was a modern tool that could do it all, but I'd have no idea what to buy.   The theory with the pulled timing is that it mimics a rich condition. The delayed spark causes incomplete burn and the O2 sensor picks up low oxygen levels. That's interpreted as a rich condition so the PCM pulls fuel and that shows up in the deeply negative fuel trims.
