Is it normal/legal for a Dealer Service Dept. to refuse a factory recall job due to the age of the truck.? Had a dealer refuse to book the job cause the truck was over 10 yrs. old, I've never heard of such a thing.

Normal?  No.  Legal?  No idea.  Plenty of other dealers around that can do it for you though.

Its easy money for them so not sure why they'd say no.

What year truck do you have?  What is the recall for or is it just a service bulletin?

Had my 2010 done last fall on the recall. Find another dealer.

That would be the Takata airbag recall, dealers have to do this service.  I know it took years for dealers to actually be able to get the parts for the recall, but I just had mine done last year.

Found a dealer "willing" to do the swap, I went to Bob Pion Pontiac/Chevrolet they did it while I waited,  and I was out in under an hour and a half.

Do you (or anyone else for that matter) know if there's any programming that goes along with this airbag recall work?  I keep getting the notices but the truck ('11 GMC Sierra 3500HD Denali with Duramax/Allison) has been tuned/deleted.  I'd hate to take it in and have it done and the programming screw with the tune

Nope.  Remove and replace the passenger airbag inflator.  That's it.

My '12 GMC was in and out within an hour, they only worked on the passenger airbag, no programing required.
