I am looking to add a 85539969 Keyless Entry Keypad to my '21 Silverado. The OEM part can be had for $190 on line but it appears that it has to be mated to your vehicle by a dealer at a cost of $165, which makes this handy feature (which is standard on pretty much all FOMOCO vehicles) a bit of a tough $355 pill to swallow. I am wondering if there is a less expensive hack to match the keypad up to my truck or some other affordable option available. I used the keypad all the time on my F150 when hunting, fishing, hiking, at the beach, kayaking etc and not wanting to take the chance of losing my key or phone while in the field or simply when in the yard without my phone and or keys to get in my truck. I am willing to pay $190 but not $355. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

You HAVE to have the dealer program it into the truck. There's an older thread on this here somewhere. It's not a DIY deal, nothing is anymore with all the electronics in vehicles.

I have this.  Dealer has to program it to the truck.  Nothing is hardwired.  It's just another remote that's stuck on the door.

Btw, even though I have it, and have the access code card in my wallet at all times, I've never used it.  It was a waste of money on my part.  However, it sounds like you might actually use it.  Just understand the battery will need to be replaced at some point.

Thanks GETGONE and Transient. Nothing is simple. I will have to look for a friend with a connection. I just can't stomach over 300 bones for this....
