I am looking for  some guidance. Bought some running board lights that I would like to turn on when I open the door to illuminate the running board step.

Anyone done this? Where can I run them up from the underside and what fuse panel and number should I connect them to?  Anything might help.

Thanks

Welcome to the forums...

Haven't done it, and you might get much better comments from someone that has, but the manual indicates that fuse 76 in the block under the hood is for "Electric Running Board". I would grab a multi-meter and see if that powers on and off according to the door being open or not - it might be what you need.

Otherwise, you might need to find the wires that power the overhead lights in the headliner to find one that's on/off based on the door being open/closed. If you can trace that back to its own fuse, you might be able to add a tap there. Otherwise, probably would need to tap the wire and use it to control a fused relay for the exterior lights.

I did this on my 2016 and I’m pretty sure the wiring is the same. I ran wires through the firewall and had them tapped into the some lights. That way anytime unlocked it or opened the door they would come on.

If it’s a 2022 refresh or newer, the dome light is on a logic circuit and it isn’t as easy as “open or closed”.  I have lights I want to install on my 2023 and have been trying to find the answer for months lol

Cavity 1 on the black BCM connector in the driver side footwell is what you're looking for. It will do the lights only for sure. I did an install on a 23 Silverado LT using the below instructions.

You will need the wires also, seller is also a member here:

THANK YOU!  This is the answer I've needed for the White door open light on my 2023 LT, now if i could just remember which wires for parking and turn signal in the BCM (I have it written down somewhere lol)

EDIT:

Question:

X1 pin1 shows 'not occupied' and works for the interior lights

X2 pins 1-4 show the same thing, but the right/left turn signals are on pin 23 and 29 on x2, think i can wire the interior light on x2 also?
