I don't like the Chevy option of locking my doors every time I exit as I'm in and out of it several times a day and don't always have my key on me to unlock. I really only want to lock it at night, say 8 PM, as once every few years my neighborhood gets hit by some losers stealing spare change and stuff. Other than that it's pretty safe. I do not pay for OnStar but my truck is close enough to the house that my keyfob locks/unlocks/autostarts with ease. I know how to configure Alexa, what I don't know is if there is a way to make Alexa do the equivalent of issuing my keyfob signal to lock the doors? I'm too stupid to remember to do it every night.

Maybe just turn off the Passive Lock option? This senses when the FOB has left the vehicle and auto-locks it.

I have used Delayed Lock option on my GM vehicles since I've had them. You press the lock button on the door once and it will lock the vehicle up after all doors are closed for about five seconds or so. I can exit the truck, hit the button, close the driver's door, then open the rear door, remove my groceries (or whatever), then close the rear door, and walk away. Truck locks up at that point about 5-6 seconds later.

If you want the doors locked immediately, just press the lock button twice. If you don't touch the lock button, it remains unlocked.

I use Alexa in my truck, but I haven't used it for that.  Therefore I don't know..I thought Alexa was only for music, directions, etc.  I'll have to try and see if I can do something like this.

If you have your MyGMC account linked to your Alexa device at home and have OnStar Remote Access you can ask Alexa to do things like start your vehicle, lock and unlock the doors, etc.  When you issue one of these commands Alexa will ask you for your PIN in order to continue and do the action.

I have OnStar Remote Start only.  In Canada the going rate is $15 per month plus tax.  You can ask the OnStar rep if they have any specials and don't take their first offer.  I was able to get it for $70 for the year.  I would image in the US  you can get it for $50 annually.

My key fob will perform a remote start without Onstar. Why do you need Onstar for remote start? Is your vehicle usually parked outside range of the fob?

I have it for when I'm out of range or out of sight to verify that it started.

I cannot speak for Alexa, but Google Assist will not work with Onstar.  I've followed all of the instructions I've found, and nothing works.  GA works fine in the truck to help control apps, etc, but within the house, it will not control the truck in any manner to Start/Unlock/Lock, etc.

The MyChevrolet/MyGMC app handles that for you.  Why use a 3rd party system?
