Given if both trucks are the same trim level or close to it , would the 3500 have a bit lower gas milage ?

No noticeable difference. Driving style and condition will make the difference.

I agree, no noticeable difference. I've had both. A 2020 HD 2500 high country and I currently have a 2024 HD 3500 high country. Pulling my 5th wheel I actually get 1 mpg better and maybe a little less in town.
