Instrument cluster speed display..

Recommended Posts

So have had our new 2024 Silverado LT ZR1 TRAIL BOSS for over a month now. What I have noticed is the speed limit display on the instrument cluster is way off when driving on streets in our local town. It seems correct when on highway. For example local street speed is 50 km/h and the cluster says it 80 km/h. Wondering if there is a software update that address the issue?

Thanks.

The map info it uses is from google -- so the speed limits displayed are only as good as the maps database.

There are lots of areas US and Canada that are incorrect or the data is missing.

You can send map error information about roads to google and they will do updates -- I've done that with road information and the corrections were made within days.

I haven't tried that with speed limit signs.

The road I drive on every day to work has a speed limit of 45. The "sign" on the dash screen says 65 then 45 then 65 all in a span of 4 miles. I've never really paid attention to that reading any way and just go by the posted sign on the side of the road.

Google maps data doesn't agree with the speed signs in front of my house...

Open Google Maps on your desktop computer OR the Google Maps app for Android.

Open the left side menu.

Select Send feedback. ...

Select Edit the map.

Select the road segment you want to edit.

Select Next.

In the "Other" field, indicate that the speed limit is wrong for that road.

Select Submit.

Yupp.

I've submitted corrections for other things -- and it works, and the updates happen in a day or two.

I don't rely on the speed thing on the dash so haven't submitted these ones.
