it does look more like a gm set up than the first one you installed. did you notice any change in air out out from the vent being relocated

Yes, its more natural looking for sure. And I prefer the OEM HVAC controls over the virtual HVAC controls in the other one as well.

 

The new vent locations do not blow as powerful as the originals, adding two 90 degree bends will do that to air flow. But the seller has informed me to add some foam on the back side of the air vents where the ducts connect, and that is supposed to direct more airflow out the vents. I just need to take the shell off and do that.

Small update a couple weeks later. got a new harness that enables the full capability of the unit when using the factory Chevy screen. Very pleased!

Installed one in my Silverado this past weekend.  I have 2 questions for you, one.  How the heck do stop the factory rear camera from switching to an aftermarket one?  I will see my rear camera for like 5 secs then it switches to the tablet one.

 

How do you connect the carplay?  I click the green icon and it just says verifying connection and never loads.  I can not do it wired or wireless.  I am plugged into the single usb.  I have the aux connected to audio out rcas and plugged into the aux plug in the console. Am I missing something?  Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I strongly suggest you join the Z-Innovations Facebook Group. It has a lot of really good support.

 

There should be a setting you have to turn off for the backup camera.

 

Not sure about the carplay issue. It worked for me on the first try.

 

I actually no longer have the truck in my videos anymore because my company shuffled vehicles and that truck went to a different person. So I can't really trouble shoot for you. But definitely join the group and someone from Z-innovations will get you sorted out.

Does anyone here have this installed that installed it in a truck that had the 7 inch screen?

 

I was shipped a unit that is missing the adapter cable for the 8 inch screen and need it. Please inbox or reply here if you have that cable for the 8 inch screen leftover. Nate, is on vacation and is going to be out for a while and I want to get my system installed ASAP if possible. Thanks in advance!
