Front Bumper Rusting

On my 2003 Sierra, the bumper is rusting on the inside holes by the front liscense plate. I like in Houston, so its not like its is from all the snow and ice we get here. If the truck is only 7 months old! Do you think the stealer is going to give me a hard time?

Yeah, got the same problem on mine ... darn thing's rusting and it's just over a year old (granted I live in Jersey and there's about 10 lbs of salt on my truck)

I haven't seen a truck this didn't happen on. There are quite a few stones and things hitting the inside of the bumpers on trucks.

I've owned my '04 Sierra for not quite 2 months, and the front bumper is surface rusting, on top around bottom edge of front grille, where water tends to sit apparently. Simple use of metal polish wiped it off, but surely it will return. See what the dealership says I guess....

I have the same problem on my 04 middle of the bumber and on the passenger side it looks like the chrome cracked and rusted. Will these be covered under warranty? I'll post some pics.

I hope your bumper is covered under warranty. There's no reason for rust like that. I haven't gone yelling about it yet (and I probably should) only because of the hassle of getting it to the dealer. Probably will just pull it apart one day, sand it, prime it and paint it with some metallic paint.

For $29,000+, I don't think we should see rust anywhere.

My point exactly! If I had the time tomorrow to leave it there, I would. You would thing that if put a cut out in the front of the bumper for cosmetics, they would at least tilt the sheet metal down or put a whole there to drain!

gm is aware of the front bumper rust problem

they have a service bullitin out for it so

take it to your dealer and they will refinish it under warranty

i have a 2000 gmc and the front bumper went rusty with in the first two years. The rust was on the inside, i saw it doing an oil change. I told the dealer and had it replaced under warranty, I was told they are doing a lot of them for rust.

my 2001 is doing the same thing, rust in the inside of the front one and actual surface rust on the back one. I also noticed what appears to be rust on the plate where the hood latch is. also what appears to be paint bubbling on the bottom of the front driver and passenger doors. i don't like the idea but that usaully rust is underneath.

If anybody else has seen this let us know, with only 92000km on it there is no way i should have rust on my $42000 dollar truck. i have extended coverage to 120000km that extra amount should pay for some things.
