I didn't have luck searching transmission service. I'm sure it is there.
Its a 22 gas under 30,000 miles.
i added the transmission dip stick. I'm thinking of pulling the dipstick and sucki The fluid out to change the filter.
Then drive and replace fluid again?
is there a way to add a drain plug?

I would think evacuating fluid from that port is good, I definitely wouldn't drive it without refilling (I assume you mean you'd refill it first but just adding that).

Once we add the dipstick can we just follow the markings on that as was done prior to the dipstick being eliminated in 2020? That's the question I'd like to have an answer to myself.

My plan when the time comes(gonna be awhile my 22 has 12k miles) will be to use my mityvac to pull the fluid out of the dipstick tube. However much I remove will be the exact amount I put back in via the dipstick tube.

a guy could just do this a few times over say a month depending how much you’re able to remove each time.

You should try driving your truck every once in a while! Sounds like a garage queen! Ha!

I got my truck Jan 18, 2024 and have 13,206 miles today. Just put on 900 miles, drove to PA to hunt for 3 days and got back last night. Headed to my camp this Friday in VT to deer hunt for up to 10 days unless I get one.

I only have one vehicle and also retired. Crew cab with 6’ 10” bed holds a lot of gear.

Yeah it does spend a lot of time in the garage. Have two vehicles and a motorcycle.

These guys make good products, I have one ready for my 2024 when I do the trans in the future. https://superiortransmission.com/product/superior-k032/

At 30k a spill and fill should be more than enough.

I realize its not an Allison but their training material says that 3 pan drops were sufficient to consider the fluid fully changed (acknowledging it was never 100%) This was info for times when the fluid was converted to full synthetic so after 3 changes you could switch to the maintenance schedule for the new syn.

I would just buy a pan with a drain plug. Both PML and PPE make them for the 6L90.

I have the 10 speed and PML already makes one for it and PPE is working on one. I will be changing the pan on my first ATF change which will be 30K miles or less.

Same here, which unfortunately adds a brutal $375+ to the basic filter change 😭

I still need to do my TCase which GM wants at 22,500 on the severe chart. Only holds 2.4qt and my desert city truck is 99.9% 2wd so doesn't get much duty, forget severe. I realize it still has stuff moving in there in 2wd but @ 24,000mi I'm waiting to do it with the transmission fluid. I'd like to get a magnetic plug for the TCase but may not know the size until I pull the plug and gauge it.

PML also has a front diff cover I'm waiting on and have submitted R&D photos for but that's taking ages. A full PML front to back cover/pan set with a mag diff plug would check an expensive to-do list box for me.

I have the PML standard capacity pan sitting on my workbench.  Plan on swapping it in when I get some free time in next couple of weeks.  $375 for a transmission drain plug will be worth every penny.

Disregard my original post, you have the 6L90 not the 10L1000
