I have a 2007 truck. Bad 5.3. I have access to a 2011 5.3 for basically free. My question is can I just unplug the vvt and use my truck harness to the cam sensor and run it? I don’t want the vvt. My truck didn’t have it. Can it be ran like this or does the full delete need to be done? Budget is the driving factor here. Thanks!!

Needs the full delete or swap the non VVT parts from that dead 5.3 into that engine if they are still good parts.

 

The camshaft will not be in the correct time because there is nothing controlling the VVT.

Is the '07 an '07 classic or '07.5?  It's a lot more work of swapping internal bits to get an gen iv engine from that '11 into an '07 classic.
